The nMetrics application and network performance monitoring solution is unique in a number of ways:
NetFlow and SPAN/Mirror collection (Flow based collection)
Data can be collected from many different sources. At the simplest level, each Application Monitor may be configured to collect information from a switch SPAN/mirror port, however a wide range of flow based agents are also supported, including Cisco NetFlow v5 and v9, IPFIX, and jFlow. The centralized collection engine (Traffic Performance Manager) can even be configured to accept information from different flow sources.
Real time troubleshooting
The Application Monitor provides the who and what of network performance. Operators can address network performance issues in real time by identifying which users and applications are generating the traffic contributing to bandwidth usage.
Long term capacity planning
Network performance data is stored historically to allow for more comprehensive capacity planning as well as additional functionality such as usage based billing.
Regional, site and subnet monitoring
Network topology can be logically grouped into regions, sites and individual subnets and hosts. This allows for a hierarchical view of the network, and hence the network performance data to be portrayed.
Scalable
A range of different hardware appliance platforms are available from Ace to allow performance monitoring from very small sites, through to large enterprises.
Distributed Deployment
Application Monitors can be deployed in a distributed fashion to monitor a domain, or part of the network and each Application Monitor can report back to a centralized collection server, the Traffic Performance Manager (TPM). The TPM uses sophisticated correlation and de-duplication techniques to match like flows and ensure that flow data is not counted twice.
nMetrics Application Monitor 100 (AM100)
The AM100 is the perfect low cost solution for small office or remote branch installations. The AM100 can actively
monitor 4 subnets with link speeds up to 1000. The AM100 can exist as either a stand alone unit or as part of distributed Application Monitor installation.
The small form factor make this unit ideal for installation in remote sites. The AM100 comes standard with 6 x 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports and may be installed
either in-line between router and switch or in an 'off-line' position by connecting it to a switch mirror port or network tap. The standard configuration uses
a hard disk to store local data & the AM100 has Compact Flash storage to eliminate all moving parts.nMetrics Application Monitor 6001 (AM6001)
The AM6001 is designed specifically to meet the network performance management needs of corporate environments. Installed in the core of the network,
the AM6001 can take multiple inputs from both WAN and LAN segments to provide a complete picture of network performance. The AM6001 can exist as either
a stand-alone unit or as part of distributed Application Monitor installation. The AM6001 comes standard with 8 x 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports and is
normally installed in an 'off-line' position by connecting it to a switch mirror port or network tap.nMetrics Application Monitor 9101 (AM9101) / Application Monitor 9151 (AM9151)
The AM9101/AM9151 series provides network application performance monitoring for high speed Gigabit links. The AM9101/AM9151 series provides the perfect solution
for central office or campus based performance monitoring. The AM9101 can actively monitor up to 200 subnets and the AM9151 can monitor up to 500 subnets
with link speeds up to Gigabit. The AM9101/AM9151 series can exist as either a stand-alone unit or as the consolidation point in a distributed Application Monitor
installation. The AM9101/AM9151 come standard with 4 x Copper Gigabit and 2 x fibre Gigabit Ethernet ports and can take feeds from multiple SPAN or mirror ports
