NComputing U170 combines simple and affordable desktop computing with plug-and-play simplicity. Connecting this access device to the shared computer couldn´t be easier, it just plugs in with the included USB cable. For those who don´t have enough power outlets at their desktop and want to eliminate cable clutter, the U170 get its power through the USB data cable. The U170 works effortlessly with the vSpace software from NComputing, and also is designed to work with Windows MultiPoint Server 2010.

NComputing is a global leader in "green computing" by enabling more users to share the power of low-cost PCs, and achieving the best user density when scaled up on large virtual infrastructure. Meanwhile, NComputing virtual desktops only draw between 1 and 5 watts per workstation and adoption of NComputing technology can help eliminate mountains of e-waste generated by continuous refreshes of PCs. To celebrate this leadership, NComputing is changing its packaging across all product lines to better align with our eco-friendly values. These changes include:
- Use of non-bleached, non-coated, papers using post-consumer content where available
- Shrinking the size of overall packages where possible
- Reducing internal plastic packaging content
- Removing Cat 5 cables from L130/L230 (that are too often not utilized and thrown away)
vSpace is easy to use
NComputing vSpace divides the computer´s resources into independent virtual workspaces that give each user their own rich PC experience.
vSpace handles the desktop display and remote activities from the user´s keyboard and mouse (through the access device). Multiple users simultaneously access a single operating system, either Windows or Linux.Centralized Management The vSpace management console sets up, configures, and manages shared computers and access devices. Access device settings can be configured centrally from the administrator console, including the ability to lock out connection of USB devices. The vSpace console also lets you assign host computer USB ports to individual users. The vSpace console is easy to use and requires no special training.
Optimized Bandwidth Typical processor utilization for productivity applications is usually less than 10%. Each individual operating system powered by vSpace will be able to support up to 30 users performing the typical office tasks of typing reports, entering spreadsheet data, or preparing presentations.
Rich Multimedia Support NComputing developed its unique User eXtension Protocol (UXP) for continuous use by users demanding a full PC experience. As a result, multimedia applications including streaming video, Flash, and 3D graphics can be supported.
Broad Peripheral Support Unlike traditional thin-client solutions, the vSpace software can manage a wide range of peripherals from speakers and microphones to USB storage devices and printers. By leveraging the native device drivers in the host system, NComputing virtual desktops do not require specialized management to extend peripheral functionality out to each user.
Flexible networking vSpace virtual desktops normally share the host´s IP address, but some third party applications need each user to have a unique IP address. NIU (NComputing IP Utility) is supplied for Windows platforms and can give the option for every virtual desktop to use a unique IP address.
