NAS (NFS) Failover - Safety First!

Open-E NAS (NFS) Failover

We are aware that every kind of hardware, superior connection, or any node - even when we talk about high-tech solutions - is not indestructible and has its own limits. It is vulnerable to power shortages, communication and equipment faults, fire incidents, maintenance problems or just human error. To reduce risk, we offer one of the most useful safety tools - NAS (NFS) Failover. It is a functionality extension of Open-E Data Storage Software V6, a highly advanced piece of software which is responsible for the safety of all your data and your peace of mind.

How does it work?

NAS (NFS) Failover is based on two nodes in an active-passive configuration. It may be one cluster that is physically distributed between two locations (for increased system availability, assuming you are on two different power grids). Once configured, all data written to the primary server is mirrored to a secondary server. In short, it means that in a data loss situation - on the primary server (one of the two aforementioned nodes) - Open-E DSS V6 automatically switches operations to the secondary server. NFS locks are also reassigned to the secondary server after the primary server fails. Complicated? Perhaps. Effective? Certainly!

What do you need?

All you need - of course - is adequate hardware facilities. Configurations are usually based on nodes deployed in two locations. Furthermore, for increased safety the hardware is often distributed among two fire protection areas. If you already meet these standards, all you need is to purchase two licenses of Open-E Data Storage Software V6 and the additional Feature Pack - NAS (NFS) Failover. After this is done you may feel free to feel safe!

What do you get?

For one, you are ensuring that all your data is safe. Secondly, in case of any doubt or questions, there is professional support available from both Ace and Open-E!
